Carla Hassett releases her sophomore effort Quero Saber, with an impressive group of friends in tow, revealing her innate ability to create and set different moods and weaves it together with a remarkable rhythmic versatility throughout. On the new epitome, which is scheduled for release in January 2007, Carla dives deeper into her Brazilian roots, exploring bossa nova and the rhythms of Bahia as the foundation for her hooky, electronic pop. Her self-produced music has been compared to Bebel Gilberto as well as Beck, but her gifted voice demonstrates a vocal passion more along the lines of a young Aretha Franklin and hints of Sade..

It's no wonder, Carla has toured and recorded with popular acts Billy Idol, Gino Vannelli, Michael Buble, Jon Anderson (Yes), Thomas Dolby, Mark Snow (X-Files, who won an Emmy nod on a track sung by Carla) as well as Latin legends Sergio Mendez, Mexico's Christian Castro, and Brazil's Marcelo Augusto. Carla is also the featured vocalist in the highly anticipated Robert Towne (Chinatown, Tequila Sunrise) feature film, Ask The Dust, composed by Ramin Djawadi and Brazilian composer Heitor Pereira.

Further proof of Carla's artistry is the breadth of her numerous collaborations. As she decided to explore co-writes and covers to complement her self-penned work, she came across an old recording of herself singing the Beatles cover Julia in a solo acoustic performance. Her version had a bossa nova feel and she wrote Portuguese lyrics to accompany the beautiful Lennon & McCartney words. She sent the live recording to her friend, guitarist Scott Anderson in New York and he sent back a new guitar arrangement with a decidedly "baiao" feel. Carla had just returned from a trip to Bahia and was haunted by the rhythms she left behind in the Pelourinho. Julia soon began her journey from Carla's studio, where she specializes in loops and sequences to Brazilian percussionist Tony Shogren (Sambaguru), bassist Carmine Rojas (David Bowie, Rod Stewart), pianist Ben Lewis (Jazz Ambassador to the US) and finally to, arguably, the greatest and most versatile vocalist in contemporary music, Mike Patton (Faith No More, Peeping Tom). The result marries Bahia to the Beatles and two world-class voices in a haunting and breathtakingly beautiful duet.

The albums title track, Quero Saber, a collaboration between Carla, who wrote the Portuguese lyrics, Scott Anderson, and jazz singer MariAnne Jayme, radiates with violinist Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Flock) stepping up to record an electric violin solo that makes it all clear why this giant once opened for, among others, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Other notable contributors include uber producer Rupert Hine, Brazilian vocalist Katia Moraes, Brian Wilson bassist Bob Lizik, and more.

A remix of Not Real Love, which still enjoys heavy rotation on Sao Paulo's most notable radio station, Radio Eldorado, as well as U.S. college radio spins, appears on the new CD. Other notable tracks are the lively What I'm Living For which seamlessly blends a Beatles, Abbey Road era vibe, a pop/samba groove, and Carla's stunningly agile voice joyously floating atop. On the bossa/jazz infused Three Kings, Carla reveals a breathy, siren-esque voice that rivals the great jazz and bossa nova singers as she poetically nods to the three great loves of her life. Over You introduces Gnarls Barkley-esque R&B elements to a sexy rap-in-portugus by Liquid Delvin Delux.

Carla has just completed a music video for the popular song Not Real Love. She currently lives in Los Angeles where she records and teaches voice and piano at Flea's (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

Quero Saber is an irresistible album and a testament to Carla HassettŐs melodic finesse and eclectic musical abilities.
